Daniel Hillier Within a Shot in Spain

Daniel Hillier has moved to within one shot of the lead at the end of day two of the Challenge de España finishing on 10-under par after a 4-under round 68 on Wednesday.

Hillier has been playing on the Challenge Tour, the feeder tour for the European Tour, since the start of May with his best result a 10th placing at the Irish Challenge two weeks ago.

Hillier had a 6-under 66 opening round which included five birdies and an eagle on the par-five second. On day two he had another six birdies with a couple of bogeys thrown in.

Local player Lucas Vacarisas and Australia Blake Windred are tied for first on 11-under with Hillier tied with four other players on 10-under.

The European Tour has taken a break this week due to the US Open being conducted in San Diego.

Hillier will tee off in the final group on day three at Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri in Cadiz at 9.45pm NZT on Thursday.
