Gulf Harbour will be the next club to join the Jennian Homes Charles Tour in 2021 as next year’s calendar is released by Golf New Zealand.

The Clubroom Gulf Harbour Open will be held from April 1 to 4 in 2021 and increases the tour to seven events alongside the current six from 2020.

The additional stop provides another opportunity for New Zealand’s professionals and amateurs to test themselves on a world-class golf course and following the success of the mixed-gender format this year, this is only expected to grow.

Golf NZ General Manager for Championships and Golf Operations Dave Mangan said he is looking forward to adding the Gulf Harbour Country Club as the 14th club to host a Jennian Homes Charles Tour Event.

“This venue has hosted two European Tour events and a World Cup of Golf, so is a true championship golf course,” Mangan said.

“It will provide the players with a really strong test of their skills, which is one of the things we are trying to do with the Jennian Homes Charles Tour.”

Gulf Harbour Country Club Director of Golf Frazer Bond said he was excited to be able to host the newest tour event at one of the country’s premier golf courses.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining The Clubroom to create a new Jennian Homes Charles Tour event at one of New Zealand’s Marquee courses,” Bond said.

“Bringing a tournament of this level to Gulf Harbour shows how the course is growing and continuing to progress.”

The Clubroom Director David Feeney said they are pleased to add their name next to the newest Jennian Homes Charles Tour event at Gulf Harbour Country Club.

“Several players, both amateurs and professionals that play in these events support The Clubroom for their golfing needs, and we’re ecstatic to be able to help return the favour by supporting local events for these players to play in,” Feeney said.

“The Clubroom is always looking for ways we can help improve our golfers and aligning ourselves further with Golf New Zealand and the Jennian Homes Charles Tour is a fitting way to do that. We’re excited for the new event.”
