The Kiwis have got out ahead of the pack with Mike Hendry, Daniel Hillier and James Anstiss all shooting below par rounds on the opening day of the Victorian PGA Championship at Moonah Links in Victoria.
Halfway through day one, Mike Hendry is in second place on the leaderboard with a stunning 7-under 65 that included seven birdies and no bogeys.
Daniel Hillier was leading the tournament after three holes after three successive birdies and is only a shot further back with a 6-under of 66 which has included eight birdies and two bogeys.
To round out the trio, James Anstiss finished his day on 5-under with five birdies and no dropped shots.
The field was split across a morning and afternoon tee off schedule so defending champion and fellow Kiwi Campbell Rawson didn’t tee off until later in the day.
He eventually took to the course and finished with a 4-under 68 after having a horror start with a bogey and double-bogey in the first six holes of his round, he finished with six birdies to rectify the situation.
