As New Zealand exits lockdown, golfers can celebrate the opportunity to play one of the country’s leading golf courses free of charge.
Jack’s Point near Queenstown, recently ranked as New Zealand’s number two golf course by New Zealand Golf Magazine, is offering a free round to any golfer wishing to play, saving the golfer $250 from what a round costs normally in the high season.
Recent research by Opinion Compare named Queenstown as the destination most New Zealanders (47 per cent) would like to visit once travel restrictions due to Covid-19 were lifted.
Jack’s Point Golf General Manager, John Griffin says the COVID-19 crisis and lockdown had been particularly hard on the communities of Queenstown and the surrounding region.
“We want to give local golfers a chance to get out on the course, as well as bring domestic visitors back to the region,” Griffin said.
“Jack’s Point has been a magnet for international visitors since it opened a decade ago and this is an opportunity for New Zealanders to take in some of the most spectacular golf and landscapes.”
Jack’s Point was designed and created by John Darby, whose work in golf course design also includes New Zealand’s number one ranked Tara Iti course, as well as Millbrook, Clearwater and The Hills.
The 18 hole par 72 championship course weaves through native tussock grasslands to the edge of Lake Wakatipu beneath The Remarkables mountain range, surrounded by 25 kilometres of walking and cycling trails.
From 18 May until the end of the season, 7 June 2020 any golfer can book a free round at Jack’s Point. Golf bookings details are available on the Jack’s Point website here.
Golfers wishing to book a second round can do so at a special locals rate of $95 (cart included).
