All golf clubs in the Auckland super city region have been advised to close until Saturday due to the COVID-19 Level 3 Lockdown measures being reintroduced by the Government.
This follows an announcement last night by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern where 4 community cases of the virus have been detected in South Auckland which has led to a Level 3 lockdown in Auckland and a Level 2 lockdown for the rest of the country.
New Zealand Golf has advised today that even though golf was permitted at Alert Level 3 previously, their advice is that clubs and facilities should fully close all operations (excluding maintenance operations) until Saturday 15 August.
“Closing for this time period will afford us the chance to learn more from the government and prepare for adjusted operations from Saturday if necessary,” NZ Golf statement said.
“The movement of Alert Levels is a fluid situation and we will be consulting with the relevant government departments to get more clarity over the coming days.
“Beyond the three days to Saturday 15 August 2020, we are unsure what changing Alert Levels will mean from a golf perspective, but as soon as we have more information, we will issue further guidance.”
More information will be provided to the country during the day.
